Learn how to cook quinoa, a versatile and nutritious base for bowls, salads, and more. Rich in fiber, iron, calcium, and protein, it's a healthy staple.
1. In a colander, place 1 cup of quinoa and rinse well under running water for a couple of seconds. (Check if your quinoa is 'desaponified' as per packaging; if so, you can skip this step).
2. In a pot, combine 1 cup of quinoa and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, without a lid. (At this point, you can add salt if desired).
3. Once the water is boiling, cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer for 12-15 minutes until all the water has evaporated.
Serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for a few days.
